The Basics (You will not be judged on these)
Location: Pasadena, CA
Sex: je suis femme
Favourite Bands, and a couple that we might not have heard before/are not on MTV: Emilie Autumn (not really a band), Coldplay, Rasputina, Faith and the Muse, Linkin Park
Favourite Books: 1984 by George Orwell, Hamlet (does this count?) by Shakespeare, The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold.
Favourite Movies: A Beautiful Mind, The Lord of the Rings, The Island, pretty much any Japanese horror movies
Favourite Celebrity: (According to your definition of a ‘celebrity’) Well, I like Angelina Jolie. She's done work with the UN and had a the heart to adopt two kids. She's also a pretty good actress. I guess I'd choose her.
Favourite TV show: Degrassi. I know, how sad. But I stay away from TV.
Favourite colour: Green or gray.
Downloading Music: If some of these musicians weren't such consumer whores, then I'd have a problem. But on my allowance, CDs are a huge expense. And legal downloading that costs money isn't any better. Otherwise, download it.
The Homeless: It's a sad situation. I think a lot of it has to do with mental illnesses and/or drugs. Our government should be a little bit more conscious and give these people some benefits of some sort.
Religion: At the moment, I'm an atheist. There are too many indoctrines in religion. On top of that, we've mutated what religion should be and have used it tou our advantage/other's demise. Example: The Crusades, Constantine, current terorism But religion can be good if it's not altered. It gives up peace of mind.
Self-Injury: I've got less of a problem with it. There are other ways to deal with things, but sometimes it's not that easy. What I really care more about is the cause of the problem. No one cuts or burns because they simply feel like it. Something's bothering them. Even the attention whores.
Keeping pets: Um, they're good companions. As long as you don't abuse the animals, I'm cool.
Charity: If you can help, do it. Of course, some charities won't leave you alone once you've donated once. That's annoying. But charity is good.
Disabled People: They should should be given everything they need to function like everyone else in society. Personally, I think disabled hiking trails (there's one near my houe) are a little farfetched, but if they need it, go for it. They're people to.
War: It's horrible. but the sad reality is that man is a war-monger and it's gonna happen regardless. Personally, I'm a pacifist and I think political issues can be solved in more peaceful ways such as negotiations. But not everyone is exactly...thoughtful. (ahem, mr. Bush.)
Being vegetarian: Animal rights are second to human rights. So going vegetarian solely for that reason is dumb, in my opinion. But if you don't like meat, well...you don't like it...
Eating Disorders: I don't think it's a social thing as much as a psychological disorder. People just happen to deal with life in that way instead of something else. It's not about being beautiful. I think it's really sad and people should be more compassionate and sensitive when dealing with that topic.
Your Society: We're too loose about somethings and too biased about others. There's no real social balance. It's OK though. I'd rather live now than 100 years ago.
The Nitty Gritty (Please be honest, we’re not here to judge… oh, okay, we are, but honesty will always work in your favour…)
Do you pick your nose?: That's one thing I admit not doing.
When was the last time you wet yourself (inc. bed)? Uuuh...6th grade. I won't go into detail. That was horrible.
What do you do with your toe-nail clippings? I usually don't clip them. I get my nails done every two months and my nails grow pain-stakingly slow.
What’s the grossest thing you’ve ever eaten:Probably escargo. The sauce tasted really good...but it was still a snail never the less.
Is there anything you wouldn’t eat for a million pounds/dollars? Buffalo testicles. Or any animal genitalia.
Do you wash your hands after you wipe? Yes, I do.
Do you squeeze your zits? When I get impatient... But I don't get that much, so I'm good.
More About You
What do you feel is your greatest accomplishment in life? Nothing yet. I have such high personal standards, that I need to change the world. I haven't done that yet. So I can't say anything.
What is your biggest regret in life? Slacking off in math. It's caused me too much hell, academically.
If you could change one thing about yourself, outside or in, what would it be? My ability to get things done. I get too careless.
Where do you hope to be in 10 years time? In med school. Or exhibiting my art...or being in a movie. A really good, dramatic movie.
What is your place in life? I'm not sure yet... I'm always the observer. And I have a tendency to run things behind the scenes.
Describe yourself in 5 words: emotional, pensive, careless, diabolical, compassionate.
How would you like to be remembered? As someone who was intelligent
Extended Questions (We want thorough detailed explanations)
What do you hope to accomplish in your life? I want to change the world. I want to change what I see. I know it's such a humongous goal, but I need to do that. I can't take the hate and the suffering. I want to be a part of something that benefits a whole bunch of people rather than just a few. I'm so self-absorbed sometimes and I take things for granted. We all do. I want everyone to at be able to take care of themselves and live comfortably in some way.
Talk about one thing you feel strongly about. Why do you feel this way? Having an open mind. I hate when only a few people are allowed to be right. Everyone has their own feelings about stuff and I respect that. Just because someone's different or has a different idea doesn't make them obsolete. I need to view everything from everybody else's shoes so I can compromise and benefit everyone, not just me.
What makes you ‘you' I have to say that I'm mostly characterized by my thoughts. I think so much. I want to know. I like to figure life out. Sometimes I'll just space out and think about one small thing. Thought is what makes us who we are. Especially our capacity of thought. And I'm using mine as much as I possibly can.
Who do you live with? My parents... >.<
What do you look for in a guy/girl? Well, a guy has to be thoughtful and not looking for sex. He also has to have green eyes...but I'll compromise. He must also be intelligent.
Who is your best friend? I don't really have one best friend. More like a group of people. But I share more with friends I've aquired through xanga.
How old is Julia? 86 I read the directions. Oooh, what now?
Apples or bananas?: apples. juicy apples.
Worst habit: I bite the skin around my nail
Best Feauture: my eyes, possibly?
Finish the sentences:
If you ever swallow a hippo just remember: to take your medication.
I cannot stand: pink rhinocerouses in green tutus.
I absolutely adore: juicy couture and all that good stuff.
Marcus met an alligator half a mile from the equator: who decided his tongue was too long.
I think that: you are pretty snazzy.
You should accept me because: I'm one of the first ten people??
Question Of The Week:
How do you feel about Euthanasia? If you're on your deathbed, what's the point in suffering. Artificial life is not life. Your body is preserved but you aren't. If you're not dying...you better have some DAMN good reasons.
Your ability to judge others fairly:
Read the last application to be added to the community, dont read the comments of others:
Of their answers, which did you most agree with? Their answer about disabled people. We're all human, right?
Which did you least agree with? Music downloading. Music is art, therefore there dhould be no restrictions.
What do you think of their ‘favourites’? Pretty average...
What stood out most about their application? (can be good or bad) Her spelling errors. I notice that stuff.
Overally, would you vote them yes or no? Yes.
5 clear reasons as to why: She has good, rational opinions, she means well for people, she kinda seems like me as fas as wanting to help people, she plays a string instrument (so do I), and she's...14 too? I ran out of reasons.
It's a bad picture of me, but it's representative of me thinking and how life sort of just passes by.
